DAVID DOONAN/Roane Newspapers
Aerial views show the wide spread devastation and the progress of the cleanup from a spill where 5.8 million gallons of coal ash sludge spilled onto the Emory River, and the surrounding area caused by a breach of a retention pond on the property of the Tennessee Valley Authority's Kingston Fossil Plant on December 22, 2008. A cove parallel to Swan Pond Circle Road and Lakeshore Drive in Harriman is almost completely blocked with mud and ash debris.
